This news happened about a month before coz I remember the public outrage it caused. The accused has been suspended immediately and investigation was probed with DGP intervention.

As much as this is fucked up, what I still don't understand is why such articles and some people assume that being the most literate state means the people/police of that state won't commit crimes? Its impossible to create a crime free state/country, Russia is nearly 100% literate, does that mean there are no crimes or crimes by the police committed there?


Article titles like this is insinuating and baiting for comments like "Hur dur what's the point of being most literate if shit like this happens" 


Instead of focusing on whether the accused have been suspended (they have) or apprehended etc, its focused on the literacy of the state, pathetic.

Both IAS and IPS have immense lobbies and they work in front and shadow to bury these kinds of issues. If the same thing done by Inspector, action would have been more Swift. To take action government has to form a investigation team and report should be submitted to state government and if I remember, IAS and IPS can only be removed in extra ordinary circumstances (such as this ) by home ministry after perusing the report . But, there are other ways to act such as filing criminal case against the erring officers like in Santhan kulam case, but again I'm not sure it can be done for UPSC guys. I may not be 100% accurate, but I remember reading about it in newspaper.

Anyway, as DMK toot their horn a lot, expected much better action. Curiously, Dravidia boys such as SVK, U2 brustus makes a conspicuous silence.

To be honest, I don't think this happened because of caste. Police usually don’t care about a common person’s self-respect. I still remember how officers treated me when I went to take my license exam. They act like they’re above everyone, and the worst part is, there are no real consequences for their behavior. We’re a third-world country, and sadly, our police reflect that mindset too.

Being a woman itself is like a second class citizen here, then think of being a dalit woman in this absolute cruel society.

I was raised in hostels my whole childhood in a all boys school. So whippings from seniors and brutal physical fights were second nature to me. I was hard as nails. 

Then when I was 17, our village temple had a theft and I was in the police station when the thieves who caught and were being "questioned" about where they stashed the stolen goods. I couldn't bear to stay in the room for more than 15 minutes, I went out and vomited and had a good cry. 
They were using the same adee par chot (foot whipping) method. 

This brings out bad bad memories for me. You might think you are a badass because you can watch ultra violent films without flinching or shoot small animals with a gun but realize how pathetic you are when screams from a tied man getting the bottom of his feet beaten up still makes your hair stand up after 15 years. (unfortunately it worked in that case, the goods were recovered from their confessions, but thing is they might have been Innocent, the way they kept screaming the same sentiment had convinced me for sure)
